Founder and CEO of Burnett Therapeutic Services

Dr. Mitze Burnett is the founder and CEO of Burnett Therapeutic Services (BTS), an agency providing mental health and autism services across California. Raised in the Napa Valley, she earned a Bachelor of Social Work from Pacific Union College and a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology. Her early work as a therapist, social worker, and director at an agency serving people with developmental disabilities shaped her belief that care should be both clinically strong and deeply personal.
As she continued working with individuals with autism and developmental disabilities, Dr. Burnett became a behavior consultant and earned her credentials as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Board Certified Behavior Analyst. She later completed a Doctorate in Psychology with summa cum laude distinction. Drawing on her experience in both mental health and behavioral care, she founded BTS in 2015 to help more individuals and families access services tailored to their needs.
BTS began as a mental health practice. When families asked Dr. Burnett for support for children with autism and developmental disabilities, she expanded the agency to offer ABA services as well. That willingness to listen and respond to community needs continues to guide its growth.
What began in the Napa, Solano, and Sonoma areas now reaches communities throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, Central California, and Northern California. BTS has opened clinics in Napa, Modesto, and Sacramento and expanded its services to include psychological evaluations for children, teens, and adults. Dr. Burnett continues to build relationships with families, clinicians, and community partners as the agency grows.

Dr. Burnett believes that excellent care depends on a team that feels supported and valued. In 2021, she completed her dissertation, Job Satisfaction among Practitioners in ABA, reflecting her commitment to a positive workplace culture. At BTS, she has championed opportunities for team members to learn, advance, and contribute their ideas.
Her approach is grounded in respect for each person’s strengths and experiences. Whether BTS is developing a new service, welcoming a clinician, or working with a family, Dr. Burnett encourages the team to lead with mission, collaborate with compassion, and recognize progress along the way.
