What is Clinic-Based ABA Therapy?

Clinic-based ABA therapy, involves structured, one-on-one and group sessions conducted in a clinical setting, utilizing Applied Behavior Analysis techniques tailored to children and adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, and other disabilities. By creating environments that mirror both community and domestic settings, center-based ABA therapy offers a holistic approach to nurturing children's development. Our therapists utilize Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) an adaptable model so that our services can be individually designed to meet the specific needs of the client and family. With a dedication to cultivating a supportive atmosphere, our clinic-based therapy empowers children to realize their potential and flourish.

How Clinic-Based ABA Therapy Works

Clinic-based ABA therapy utilizes a 1:1 approach and group sessions to treatment where children engage in various activities designed to promote communication, social interaction, independence, and academics.  The process commences with a comprehensive assessment of each child's distinctive strengths and areas needing improvement. Based on these evaluations, personalized treatment plans are meticulously crafted to assist children in attaining specific goals and objectives. These tailored plans are meticulously designed to offer precise interventions and support, guiding children towards their desired outcomes with accuracy and effectiveness.

Utilizing methods like discrete trial training and naturalistic teaching strategies, practitioners address developmental challenges and behaviors associated with ASD in a controlled clinical setting. Through positive reinforcement techniques, therapists not only reinforce desired behaviors but also teach essential social skills, communication, and adaptive behaviors.

Within our clinics, therapeutic sessions simulate key aspects of a typical school environment, including group activities, adherence to routines, peer interaction, and focus amid distractions. Our skilled team guides clients through these experiences, fostering their learning and mastery of crucial skills. Through evidence-based practices and personalized approaches, clinic-based ABA therapy promotes independence and enriches the lives of children and adolescents with ASD.

What Are the Benefits of Clinic-Based ABA

Clinic-based ABA therapy offers numerous benefits for individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Firstly, it provides a structured environment conducive to learning, allowing for targeted interventions tailored to the unique needs of each individual. Moreover, clinic-based therapy facilitates social interaction and peer engagement, fostering the development of crucial social skills and communication abilities. Additionally, the presence of trained professionals allows for continuous monitoring of progress and timely adjustments to treatment plans. What to Expect During Our Center-Based ABA Programs

Assesment

Before beginning ABA sessions, you and your child will meet with one of our Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) for an initial assessment. During this evaluation, the BCBA will assess your child's current behaviors and skill levels to identify strengths and areas needing improvement. Based on this assessment, we will develop a personalized treatment plan tailored to your child's unique needs. Our team of dedicated Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) will then work closely with your child to implement the treatment plan, incorporating specific ABA strategies, targeted skills, and positive reinforcement methods.

Regular monitoring and tracking of progress are essential components of ABA therapy. We prioritize conducting reassessment meetings every six months to ensure your child is making meaningful progress toward their goals. These meetings provide an opportunity for you and any other caregivers involved in your child's care to review progress, discuss observations, and address any concerns. If necessary, adjustments will be made to the treatment plan to ensure your child's continued growth and success.

Pairing

The pairing process is essential in our program because it helps our RBTs build a strong and trusting relationship with your child. During each ABA session, our RBTs focus on connecting with your child through activities like free-play and fun conversations. This bonding time is important for the RBT to build a positive relationship with your child, which leads to a feeling of safety and trust. By creating a nurturing and supportive bond, our ABA treatments are more impactful and meaningful. We recognize the importance of establishing a solid foundation of trust, as it is key to successful learning and development in your child's ABA journey.

Activities

At BTS, our aim is to offer engaging and enjoyable activities that incorporate essential ABA methods like discrete trial training (DTT), natural environment teaching (NET), and token economy systems to ensure your child remains actively involved during their sessions. We tailor programs to suit your child's individual needs and preferences, with activity durations typically ranging from 15 to 30 minutes, adjusted according to their progress.

Our clinic environment has been meticulously designed to support your child's growth and development journey. We provide a wide array of toys and equipment to enhance gross motor skills, along with sensory areas featuring engaging elements like ball pits. Furthermore, we've allocated specific zones for independent learning, where your child can practice tasks such as maintaining focus and completing activities at a table. We also offer guidance on vital skills like potty training and nurturing independence, including activities like bed-making chores.

Parent Involvement

We recognize the crucial role of parental involvement in our ABA programs, which is essential for the sustained success of your child. To support our families effectively, we integrate two hours of parent training every month. Through these sessions, parents and caregivers gain insights into various ABA techniques and discover how to seamlessly implement ABA strategies in diverse environments, including the home and community settings. By actively engaging parents in their child’s treatment journey, we cultivate a collaborative partnership that empowers parents to take an active role in fostering their child’s growth and development.

How long are clinic-based ABA therapy sessions?

We tailor the duration of each session according to your child’s individual progress and attention span. Initially, sessions may be shorter to maintain your child’s engagement and success. As your child advances, session lengths may extend accordingly. Typically, our clinic-based ABA therapy sessions span from 2 to 4 hours on average, but we also offer full-time programs where sessions can last from 4 to 6 hours.

To accommodate various schedules, we provide ABA programs with both daytime and afternoon options. This flexibility ensures that we can accommodate your family's needs and commitments without compromising the quality of care.

How often should my child attend clinic-based ABA therapy sessions?

Sessions for clinic-based ABA therapy are scheduled according to the child's needs and treatment plan, with frequencies ranging from 2 to 5 days per week. This scheduling is tailored to align with the child's specific goals and requirements.

Can I participate in my child's clinic-based ABA therapy sessions?

Although parents may not directly partake in the ABA therapy sessions, we emphasize the significance of parental involvement at Burnett Therapeutic Services. We provide dedicated parent sessions, aiming to equip you with the knowledge and skills to reinforce the techniques utilized during therapy sessions, thereby facilitating seamless integration into the home environment. Additionally, we welcome parental input in every stage of treatment plan modification, ensuring collaboration and alignment with your child's evolving needs and progress.
